NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF BLACK LAW ENFORCEMENT EXECUTIVES OF MASSACHUSETTS (NOBLE MA) STATEMENT REGARDING THE DEATH OF GEORGE FLOYD

As individuals entrusted with the enormous responsibility of enforcing laws and dutifully administering Criminal Justice throughout the Commonwealth, NOBLE Massachusetts is compelled to condemn the actions leading to the death of Mr. George Floyd in Minneapolis, MN in the strongest manner possible.

We believe the Officer’s actions amount to depraved indifference and are inconsistent with any acceptable training standards in our well-regulated profession. Such actions do irreparable harm to the reputation of all law enforcement and tear at the very fabric of the trust that many of us have spent our entire careers attempting to build.

As a profession, we must raise the cost for bad behavior—including actions and inactions. We emphatically support Chief Arrandondo’s swift action in terminating the officers responsible for Mr. Floyd’s death. It is our united position that these individuals should be held fully accountable and support and encourage a full criminal investigation by any state, local or federal agency with jurisdiction or authority to do so.

We offer prayers and our sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Floyd and to all who endure the trauma associated with this tragic incident.
